MUSEU VALENCIÀ DEL PAPER (Valencian Museum of Paper)
It is located in the Municipal Park of Villa Rosario. It is the first museum of its kind in the Valencian Community, and reflects the importance of the paper industry in this municipality and in other parts of the Valencian Region from the second half of the eighteenth century to the late twentieth serving as a driving force of the economy and remaining unique to this lands.
On a tour of the museum we can see just how important this industry was, its evolution, history and production processes with the exhibition of the machines of the day, articles, models and even the recreation of a workshop where recycled paper is produced, located in the basement and addressed especially to school children.
The library also specializes in paper and water. Cigarette paper, rolling paper boxes, and the permanent paper clothing exhibit, are features on the first flour, whereas the second flour is usually used for exhibitions, conferences, training courses…
The museum stages a regular competition for costumes made entirely of paper. It was first started in 1999 on the occasion of the third national paper history congress held in the town. Participants dressed themselves up in paper using napkins, table clothes and painted paper fashioning themselves shoes and dresses in which to parade around the town. This gave raise to the continuation of the fun in the more formal setting of a competition for paper costumes and all the trimmings. Since then this event is organized every two years attracting more and more people and has now being recognized on the national level.
There are currently five categories: children's wear, fashion wear, bridal gowns, evening dress and period costumes or attire.
